A weekend doing nothing

When I got home Friday night I had managed to clock 191 miles on the bike for the week which was the turbo session from Sunday and the rest was commuting to work. Was planning a long-ish run for the weekend but decided in the end to just do nothing. I cleaned out the shed in order to make space for the mountain bike which will be coming back with me after the christmas holidays in the Isle of Man. I then cleaned and de-greased Anthea's old winter bike and my old winter frame in preparation to sell as they are no longer required and are just taking up space. So that was my weekend of nothing, no training!! Not done that for a while.

Did you enjoy doing nothing? I have done nothing at the weekend since the season ended and have used the time to do other things, including having a lie in. Mentally I've found it very refreshing and hopefully will result in me enjoying training all the more when I start getting out in the freezing cold January weather.

I did enjoy doing nothing but it didn't feel normal? Only plan to do alternate days over christmas in the isle of man, run day/rest day/mtb ride/rest day/run day (you get the idea) then when I get back on the 30th training begins proper.

Daz is quite right, it doesn't feel normal to do nothing (for us triathletes), but it's an integral part of our year. Time to de-load our fatigue and get re-energised for 2011. Train smart guys!
