New Toy Arrives

Just a quick post to show some pictures of the new toy. A Giant Bowery Single Speed, you can choose between a fixed wheel and a freewheel by turning the wheel round. Going to have a play with fixed for a while and see how I get on.

Is that chrome?

Don't know says Cromo on spec list. What I do know is that the thing nearly killed me today on my first ride. Had it in the fixed set up and on a big decent I thought I would see how fast I could go before having to use the brakes. Bad idea, the back wheel started lifting and then kicking side to side about 8-10" of center. Thought I was going for a face full of tarmac, but just managed to get my feet off the pedals in time to save it. Its now set up on freewheel!!!!!

What cadence do you reckon you were doing? 120? 150? More? Fixed scares me for just that reason; at what point do your legs get ripped off on a fast descent?

I like single speed bikes. You should get a great workout with the hills in your area! That is nice chrome?! Next time we race you use the single speed and I will use my girly bike - might be able to keep up with you then!

Sags, I recall our bike times were the same by a couple of seconds at Holland, so no more bluffing from you please, its me that needs to keep up with you once you learn to swim!!
